If chrysanthemums are not your favorite fall flower, try our lovely fall asters. These come in pink, purple and blue tones and will bloom like crazy in the fall garden. These are perennial, so you don't have to plant them every year!

It wouldn't be fall without the gorgeous color of mums! We grow our own pots and have multiple sizes to choose from. Once they are done blooming in your pots, plant them in the ground. They are a perennial plant that will come back next season.

Snake gourds are very unusual and make great legs for a giant spider. (Use a large pumpkin for the body)

Birdhouse gourds are beautiful for fall decorating, let them dry outdoors over the winter and you can use them for birdhouses next season! Just cut a hole, clean out the seeds, and hang them in a tree!

Queensland blue squash is a delicious Hubbard variety that is great for eating as well as decorating.

Bet you didn’t know that there is Hardy Hibiscus for our state! These gorgeous plants will amaze you with their huge 8-10” flowers in July and August. They love our summer heat! I have multiple plants in my garden and they starred in my summer border last year when the weather was so hot! Leave plenty of space, these get up to 4’ tall and bloom for a  long time in the border. Don’t get to anxious for them to appear in the spring, they need lots of heat to get them going. Make sure to look for these in the greenhouse in May.

Whatever you call them, these are a workhorse for your potted containers in our hot South Dakota summers. These come in a rainbow of colors and are perfect planted on their own or in combination planters. These are self cleaning, so you don’t have to spend a lot of time dead-heading your flowers. Just add some granular slow release fertilizer to your container, and they’ll be happy for the season. Make sure to put these on your shopping list for spring!
